First off, I haven't done any writing. Even though this is a blog that's supposed to help me write, I've been lacking the necessary will to go out and craft stories, or something. Maybe I've just been lazy.
Actually, I wrote up a free script giveaway which I'll be posting at some point, when I remember and have it edited.
But for now, let's talk about one of my favorite past times... Crack Attack. The game consists of blocks which slowly grow up from the bottom and can be eliminated by switching them around into patterns of 3. In other words, it's like a combination of Bejeweled and Tetris. But here's the rub: The better you do, the worse it is for you. Not only does the difficulty increase over time, but if you have a great combo, you get rewarded with giant block-holding bars which dump on you. The bars can be broken down into component blocks after you make a match next to them. When that happens, everything pauses for a moment, and you have some time to set up some really neat combos before the freed blocks descend and the game continues. This in turn sets up a recurring cycle where you're essentially digging yourself a deeper and deeper grave. You have to break the bars up, and destroy tons and tons of blocks, but doing so creates massive combos which in turn drops more and larger bars on you. The longer the game goes, the more time you spend trying to keep yourself alive...
For a long time, I couldn't beat the preset highscore of 500 blocks destroyed. Then one day I did. Then doing that became commonplace, and my total reached into the high 600's. Then, after a good day, I got up to 850, and soon 600 was common for me, and I was having a really off day if I couldn't get at least 500 blocks destroyed...
Today, after putting Dethklok's Thunderhorse on repeat in WinAmp, I managed to get all the way to 1001. I'm not honestly sure if I lost, or if the game just ends at 1000. By that point, you're spending so much of your time in the redzone it's not even funny.
It was a nice way to relax.
I'm going to go do some writing tomorrow. I could either work on my recent writing project, do another free script, or write a random short story... I'm not really sure yet. I may not be sure tomorrow. Regardless, I'll try to produce at least 2,000 words tomorrow. I need to produce a lot more than if I want to have any chance of succeeding at NaNoWriMo, which is next month. But 2,000 is better than 0, which is what I've done so far this month.
Alright, I'm off to bed.

Lamest Post Ever.
Monday, October 01, 2007
It's been about a week.
I need to find a good place for writing exercises, so I have something to say when I post. :P
This last weekend was probably an ideal time to get some writing done, but instead I had a great time with my wife, and didn't write anything at all. We went to a Gem Fair twice, read some comic books at borders, shopped, and played video games. It was very relaxing, all in all.
But not very productive. Ah well.
I am currently working on:
1. The Seer Story (the fragment I posted last week was from that).
2. A Bounty-Hunter role-playing campaign.
3. A model starship.
4. Several model space-stations.
5. For Work - 5 4.5x4" labels, which will go up on the wall.
6. Quickshots comics.
So far, the only thing I got done was the comics. So...yeah, I suck.
Ah well.
:D
